Why Choose Dental Implants?
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is an artificial titanium root resembling the shape of a natural root, that is placed in the bone and allowed to heal for a few months. After the healing period, an artificial tooth (crown) is attached to the implant. The crown looks and feels very much like your natural tooth.
If you are missing a tooth, in most situations, a dental implant is the best way to replace it. There are various situations in which a dental implant is the treatment of choice.
Single tooth replacement – if a tooth is lost because of trauma, decay, or gum disease, a dental implant is often the ideal choice. This brings back the esthetic and function of the missing tooth without affecting the neighboring teeth in any adverse way.
Multiple teeth replacement – If multiple teeth are missing in a given arch, oftentimes two or more implants are placed which in turn support two or more implants and/or bridges
Full arch “fixed” teeth replacement – when an entire jaw is missing teeth, four or more implants are placed in the jaw, and the entire upper set of teeth are put in supported by the four to six implants. These teeth have amazing natural aesthetics and are intended to restore the chewing function to its natural state.
Removable snap-on teeth – In some situations where the entire arch of teeth is missing, four implants are used to support an arch of “snap-on teeth”. These teeth amazingly resemble your natural teeth and are very comfortable to eat with, since the teeth do not move around when chewing.
